Garrett got his first haircut yesterday. He looks so big now -- it's amazing how a haircut can make a baby look so grown up. He was a champ while we cut it. He sat in his Bumbo, played with a little brush, and didn't make a peep.
We also cut Cole's hair and that was a completely different story. He cried, screamed, refused to sit still -- it was like cutting a snake's hair. We stuck Garrett in the tub to play while we started Cole's hair (we were right next to the tub and watching him) because I knew I would need reinforcement (a.k.a. Russ). Cole is usually so good at haircuts, so I was a little surprised at his protest. Anyway, we looked over at Garrett and saw that he had pooped in the tub. So, Russ did damage control with Garrett and the tub while I tried to wrestle with Cole and cut his hair at the same time.
With poop and hair everywhere, it wasn't how I pictured Garrett's first hair cut in my head! But, both of the boys had hair cuts, so I think it was a success. Just don't look too closely or you will see all of the nicks and mistakes I made (Garret's neck line is way too short -- good thing hair grows!). My brain is very right sided, so to venture to the left side is always challenging...I'm an accountant, not a beautician. I can't wait for the day when I can pay someone to cut their hair!!
Before -- all that darling, soft baby hair
During -- he was content and happy as could be!
After -- my handsome, "grown up" little man!

He does look so cute!!!! I can't believe what a difference that little bit of a hair cut can do.
Your boys are always so cute! Garrett does look grown up but he sure is adorable.
He is SO handsome!! You are right about him looking so big!
He is so adorable, and growing so fast!
Katrina, I am so impressed with your hair cutting skills! I leave that department up to Mark, and then again, he just uses the clippers. Garrett looks so adorable! It's amazing how their first hair cut makes them look so much older! I love these little boys! What a funny story about the bathtub. Isn't it always just chaos! I keep telling myself I'm going to miss these days when I want to just fast forward 20 years and have them all out of the house! Love the blog!
What a brave mama you are! The cut looks great.
So cute! You did a great job!! :)
Oh, isin't it so sad when they grow up. He looks so big with his new haircut. I still remember the night we were scrapbooking at Pam's house and we talked about putting hair from their first haircut in their books.. Ha ha ha. That is so funny. Do you remember that too? How's your scrapbook going?
You did a great job. It's sad but we still do our own hair cuts, not just for Jackson and Tanner, but for Jared and me too. I finally splurged a few weeks ago and went to dollar cuts. Hee hee. But that's why you all look so nice...and we leave lots of room for improvement. Garrett looks darling though! I love how babies look right after their first hair cut.
He does look big! I can't imagine what he will look like when we finally get to meet him...one day.
Has it been that long since I have seen Garrett? I don't even recognize him anymore. Your boys are gorgeous!!!
I do have to laugh at your story, though. What can be worse than when kids go to the bathroom in the tub??? I'm glad somebody else has adventures like we do.
I am so impressed that you even attempted to cut their hair, let alone what a great job you did! I tried cutting K's hair once. It was a nightmare, and I've never done it since. I wish he'd let me do because it would save so much money, but no luck. When he was little, he was horrible to get it cut, and I'm not skilled, so we did the beauty college. It was always worth the $4!
